In history God uses the Jewish nation in an extraordinary way. The nation has been punished as no other nation, and it has been blessed as no other nation. God chose the nation as the instrument of his plan of salvation for the world, and he calls it his peculiar people. This is reason for which we concern ourselves with Israel.
Today we live in a time when God intervenes in world history in a decisive way turning the fate of his people. After almost 2,000 years of exile Jews return to Israel from the whole world in an unprecedented number, the desert is blooming and the ruined cities of Israel are rebuilt.
The prophets in the Old Testament predicted all this, and it happens because God is keeping his promises to his people. “God did not reject his people.” Paul writes in Romans 11,2. This is still valid today. The election of Israel rests firm, and Israel is still an important actor in Gods plan of salvation for the world.
Therefore is it important that Christians are aware of the way God is dealing with Israel – in order to strengthen their faith and as an indication of the approaching second coming of Jesus. But it is also important today, as it was at the time of Jesus, that the Jews hear the gospel about Jesus Messiah who sacrificed his life for the world. Because salvation is found in no-one else.
- Ordet og Israel endeavours that Christians may see Israel in the way of the Bible.
- Ordet og Israel endeavours that Israel may see Jesus as the Messiah in the way of the Bible.
Ordet og Israel is a Danish movement within the evangelical Lutheran church. The motto of the movement is: “The Scripture cannot be broken”, John 10,35. This means the Ordet og Israel’s work is based on the conception that the whole Bible is God’s word to people. Ordet og Israel works both in Israel and in Denmark.
Social Relief Ministry in Israel
Ordet og Israel wants to bring the gospel back to the nation, which has given the gospel to the world. At the same time Christians are called upon to comfort God’s peculiar people Israel. Therefore Ordet og Israel has sent out young Danes to a social relief ministry in Israel. The work is a gift from Christians in Denmark to Israel. In their everyday life the Ordet og Israel employees come close to Jews who are really in the need of help. This gives the possibility to show the love of Jesus to the Jewish people and to bear witness of him. The work takes place in homes for disabled people, hospitals and as domestic help, and it is arranged in close cooperation with the social authorities. Besides Ordet og Israel support specific projects among Jews financially.
Supporting Messianic Jews
Messianic Jews are Jews who believe in Jesus as the Messiah. The Messianic movement in Israel is in many ways a small group, which is exposed to many difficult situations. Ordet og Israel supports the Messianic Jews through intercessory prayer as well as financially – for instance the help paying for the printing of evangelising literature. In addition many of the people working for Ordet og Israel in Jerusalem are active in different Messianic congregations and help wherever needed.
Meetings and conferences in Denmark
What happens to the Jewish nation in our time – and has happened throughout history – can only be understood in the light of the Bible. Through teaching Ordet og Israel wants to give the biblical view on Israel to Christians. Therefore meetings and conferences are an important part of the movement’s activities. Ordet og Israel’s secretaries, Torben Mathiesen and Ole Andersen, speak at meetings in churches and organisations, in schools and Bible schools all over Denmark. Each year Ordet og Israel arranges several conferences. The summer conference, which is the largest, also is the annual meeting of the movement. At the conferences you will find teaching from the Bible, a Middle East bazaar and news from Israel. Often Messianic-Jewish guests from Israel or the USA are invited to speak at the conferences of Ordet og Israel.
Publishing house and magazine
Each year Ordet og Israel publish book – either through its own publishing house or in cooperation with other publishing houses. Subjects of the books may be: the End of the Age and the Second Coming of Christ, Jerusalem, the Jewish roots of Christianity, the relationship of Christians towards Israel, Jewish history, the Millennium and the Biblical prophecies.
The magazine Ordet & Israel is published 11 times a year. The magazine appeals to Christians in Denmark who want to know the Biblical understanding of Israel. The magazine contains news about the Messianic Jews, teaching from the Bible and current articles from Israel. The magazine also brings information about conferences and trips to Israel.

Joffi – Youth in Ordet og Israel
Joffi in Israel
The narratives of the Bible become living in the land of the Bible. This fact gives Joffi some unique possibilities to teach from the Bible to young Danish volunteers in Israel. A number of Joffi secretaries have been employed by Ordet og Israel to take care of this ministry. The Joffi secretaries live in two Joffi houses in Jerusalem and Tiberias. The Joffi houses are open Christian homes, in which Danish volunteers may spend the night for free. In the houses then can find a Danish homely atmosphere and read a Danish newspaper. Every day they can attend at devotion, and regularly at Joffi evenings with praise, singing and teaching from the Bible.
Joffi also arranges trips to places, which are normally not visited by tourists: jeep driving in the desert of Negev, hiking in the Golan Heights, Bible camping at the lake of Galilee, trips to Sinai, rope climbing in the desert and much more. Through the Joffi arrangements several Danish volunteers have become believers in Jesus, and many have come to see Israel’s position in God’s plan of salvation in a different light.
Joffi in Denmark
Joffi in Denmark arrange conferences and days with thorough and trustworthy teaching from the Bible and genuine Joffi atmosphere. Often the Joffi arrangements are the occasion where old friends from Israel meet again. However, Joffi is also for those who have never visited Israel. The reason is that Joffi wants to teach what the Bible teaches about Israel in order for the attendants to learn more about God and his plans of salvation for the world.
Joffi publishes its own magazine with articles about Israel, teaching from the Bible, current news from Joffi in Israel and a calendar of Joffi’s arrangements in Denmark. The magazine is published eight times a year, and subscription is free.
Joffi would be glad to come to your youth group for a meeting or a day of teaching. Call the youth secretary Anders Aagaard for further information.
